Terms of use
In short
- Console Clarity shows you your own Google Search Console data more clearly. It has read-only access and can’t change anything in your account.
- Only add properties you’re allowed to see, and use the service lawfully and within Google’s terms.
- Our analysis is an estimate to guide you and carries no guarantee. The decisions you make with it are yours.
- You can stop using it, and delete everything we hold about you, at any time.
1. Who we are
Console Clarity (consoleclarity.com) is run by Search Ventures Ltd (“we”, “us”). It is built and maintained for us by LincolnDigital.
2. Agreeing to these terms
By signing in to Console Clarity you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy, which explains how we handle your data. If you use the service for a business or for clients, you confirm you’re allowed to agree to these terms on their behalf. You must be 18 or over to use Console Clarity.
3. What the service does
Console Clarity reads your Search Console data through Google’s Search Console API and turns it into reports: algorithm update analysis, portfolio views, research reports, exports and client reports, among others. It also includes tools that look up public information about websites.
We may add, change or remove features as the service develops, and Google may change or limit what its API provides. If we ever offer paid features, we’ll show you the price and any extra terms before you choose them, and you’ll never be charged without agreeing first.
4. Your Google account
- You sign in with your own Google account. Keep it secure: anyone who can use it can see what you see here.
- Console Clarity asks Google for read-only access to Search Console, and nothing else. You can withdraw that access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Your use of Google’s own services remains subject to Google’s terms. Console Clarity is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Google.
5. Using the service fairly
You agree to use Console Clarity lawfully, and in line with Google’s APIs Terms of Service and Terms of Service. In particular, you won’t:
- add or view properties you aren’t authorised to access, or share data you aren’t entitled to share;
- try to get around Google’s usage limits, or ours, or use the service in a way that overloads it or Google’s systems;
- scrape, copy, resell or offer the service, or the data it provides, as a service to others;
- try to break into, probe or reverse engineer the service, or interfere with other people’s use of it;
- use the research tools against websites to attack, harass or harm their owners, or submit URLs through IndexNow for sites you don’t control.
6. Your data and your clients
Your Search Console data stays yours. We use it only to provide the service to you, as our privacy policy explains. If you view or share data about websites that belong to clients or others, for example in a client report, you’re responsible for having their permission to do so.
7. Accuracy
Figures come from Google, and are only as complete as Google makes them: Search Console leaves out some searches and changes its data from time to time. Our analysis, such as whether an update affected a site or how many clicks an opportunity might be worth, is an estimate based on that data. It is there to help you decide what to look at. It is not professional advice, and we can’t promise any result from acting on it.
8. Our content and yours
The service, its design, software and analysis belong to Search Ventures Ltd. Reports and exports you create from your own data are yours to use as you like, including sharing them with clients. Google and Google Search Console are trademarks of Google LLC; other names belong to their owners.
9. Other services
Some features rely on other services, listed in our privacy policy. We don’t control them, and they have their own terms. If one changes or stops working, the feature that uses it may stop too.
10. Availability
We work to keep Console Clarity running smoothly, but we provide it “as is” and can’t promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors. We may pause it for maintenance, or if Google suspends or limits our access to its API.
11. Stopping
You can stop using Console Clarity whenever you like. Sign out to remove your Google sign-in from our server, or use Delete my data on the Manage Properties page to delete everything we hold about you and withdraw our access to your Google account.
We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if we’re required to by law or by Google, or if we close the service. Where we reasonably can, we’ll tell you first.
12. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can’t be limited by law. If you use Console Clarity as a consumer, you also have legal rights that these terms don’t affect.
Otherwise, and as far as the law allows:
- we aren’t responsible for loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or data, or for any indirect or consequential loss, arising from your use of the service or your decisions based on it;
- we aren’t responsible for problems caused by Google or other services we rely on, or by events beyond our reasonable control;
- our total liability to you in connection with the service is limited to £100.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. We’ll change the date at the top, and tell you in the app before any significant change takes effect. If you keep using Console Clarity after that, the new terms apply.
14. General
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings there.
- If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don’t enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- Nobody else has rights under these terms. We may transfer them to a company that takes over the service, and your rights won’t be reduced as a result.
